About the Foundation
The Michael P Hickey Foundation was established to support exemplary scholars realize their dreams of becoming future global leaders in economic development. In a growing field with great demand around the world, it is critical to ensure the best and brightest have the tools necessary to succeed and acheive their aspirations.
Students interested in graduate work devoted to economic development should apply for a scholarship from the Michael P Hickey Foundation. The scholarship will be competitively awarded on not only academic achievement, but also with strong consideration for a multitude of key tenets for success like motivation, attitude, need, and drive.

Michael P Hickey
Michael P Hickey started Hickey and Associates, originally in Columbia, MD and eventually settling in Plymouth, MN, specializing in Site Selection and Economic Development Initiatives.
To ensure success was not short-lived, Michael handled each and every business project and relationship with an ethical and honest approach unmatched by few. As the company developed into a global leader for business growth and expansion, Michael's strong principles were the core reason for his success. Without question, his legacy endures through the company he established.
Along with launching Hickey and Associates, Michael's extensive business career included leadership positions within General Electric and Pillsbury. Prior to entering the private sector, Michael proudly served as an elected official on the Columbia (MD) City Council and other community leadership positions, while also holding executive positions in Maryland directing employment, job training, and economic development programs. Michael received his Masters degree in Business Administration, as well as, his undergraduate degree in Political Science, from the University of Maryland, College Park.
Michael passed away in 2009, and is survived by his wife Doris, and sons Jason Michael and David Patrick, which now manage the day-to-day operations of Hickey and Associates.
